In the news we read more and more negative articles about pesticide use and the negative impact on our environment.

My goal is to promote positive change in the flower bulb industry. The US imports about 800 million non-organic bulbs from Holland every year.

In 2009 EcoTulips imported the first organic bulbs from growers who don't use pesticides. My dream is to create a nationwide market for organic bulbs in the US(nobody else sells organic tulip bulbs), if we (gardeners/city parks etc) start to buy organic bulbs, the organic growers will have a chance to expand their good work! This results in a reduction of pesticide exposure in our environment. Organic bulbs are grown by using organic methods which means they select strong varieties, weed by hand, spray with mineral-oil and do more manual disease control.

Are your organic bulbs more expensive? No because we cut out the middleman, we buy direct from the organic farmer. And we save a lot of money by not sending paper catalogs to our customers. I know those mail order catalogs are very pretty… but it is also a big waste of ink, paper and money!  

What about the quality?  Bulbs grown in organic soil absorb a wider variety of nutrients, which makes them healthier and stronger then regular bulbs

Our Happy Bulbs are grown in Holland without toxic pesticides and they love that! On an Organic flower bulb farm, bees, earth worms and other beneficial insects don’t get disturbed. Pesticide free flowers keep insects healthy and let our Happy Bees polinate without being in danger! 

A pesticide free environment is good for everybody, I promise you that if you plant those happy bulbs and see the happy bees next spring that you will get happy too :)
